Scion, a division of Toyota, was founded on June 9, 2003 and ended on August 15, 2016. It was headquartered in Torrance California. Toyota manufactured the Scion TC as a sport compact coupe starting in 2004 for two generations. TC stands for “Touring Coupe”. All of the Scion TC’s were built in Japan for sale in north American Toyota Scion dealerships. The Scion TC was not introduced in Canada until 2010. The Scion TC replaced the Toyota Celica in a move to bring in younger buyers in the United States. The 2016 Scion TC came in many external colors including Blizzard Pearl, Cosmic Gray Mica, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Cement, Absolutely Red, Barcelona Red Metallic, Black and Blue Streak Metallic.

Scion began with a limited release of the TC in 2005; consisting of only 2,500 Absolutely Red RS01’s produced. These 2,500 had a plaque mounted inside each giving the edition number. This Absolutely Red RS01 also came with 18" wheels, grill and interior fabric design. In 2006, a RS2 model was produced in Blitz Blue Mica and only 2,600 were produced. In 2007, the RS3 series was created producing only 2,500 in Blizzard Pearl. The 2008 Scion TC included the RS4 series and the 2009 Scion TC included the RS5 series. Scion wanted a more popular and sporty coupe in 2005 in order to attract a more performance purchaser; in came the TC coupe. In the 2006 model, Scion added a steering wheel with media-enhancements for iPod integration. In 2007, Scion produced more trims including one called the Spec trim.
The second generation of the Scion TC started production in 2010 and lasted until August 2016. The model years for the second generation included 2011 through its final year of 2016. These Scion TCs were assembled in Japan. Related vehicles were to include the Toyota Celica, the Toyota Avensis and the Lexus HS. The engine for this Scion TC was a 2.5L straight 4 and had two options of transmissions consisting of a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual.
